ViaMUN 2018

ViaMUN 2018 was a blast! With this page, we want to keep the memory of our wonderful conference alive and reminisce about the great time we had. We hope both that you'll enjoy the pictures and that we'll see you again at our conference next year!

Secretary General & Chairs

Secretary General - Daniel Kirchhof
As a Master European Studies Candidate at the European University Viadrina Daniel currently finishes his degree with a main focus on Common Foreign and Security Politics, European Integration and Transformation Processes in Eastern Europe and the Balkans, which he shares a distinctive passion for.
Knowing the real diplomatic parquet from internships at the German Embassies in Copenhagen and Rome as well as the German Federal Foreign Office in Berlin he caught his “MUN virus” in 2014 at his very first conference in his hometown Berlin.
Now – after 14 MUN/MEU conferences in Belgrade, Berlin, Bonn, Edinburgh, Frankfurt (Oder), Istanbul, Leuven and Milan, including nine highly ranked chairing positions – he will serve as our Secretary General at the ViaMUN 2018 conference.
Following his believe that “a smooth sea never made a skilled sailor” he is very much looking forward to welcoming you for four exciting days on the German-Polish border with intense debates on the troubled waters of the current issues in Myanmar.

Chair of the Security Council - Maria Kristin Trumsi:
I was born and raised in a small town in southern Estonia and moved to Tallinn in order to attend a German language focused school. In 2017, I moved to Berlin to pursue a bachelor’s in Korean Studies at the Freie Universität Berlin.
In Estonia, I was a member of various social organizations. For example, a NGO working towards minimizing stigma associated with mental health in Estonia, co-founder of a youth group for Estonia’s newest political party, the Freedom Party, and a member of my high school student council.
My MUN journey started in 2014 in high school and ever since, I’ve attended various MUN conferences in Estonia and abroad. Although Viadrina MUN will be the first conference I’ll attend as a chair, I hope to inspire and guide delegates to do their best and learn as much as they can.
In my free time I love to read, watch movies and documentaries and listen to music. I also try to travel as much as possible. It doesn’t matter how far away, travelling is a great way to learn about yourself and the world around you.
I look forward to meeting you all at Viadrina MUN and hope that this will be a unforgettable time for every delegate, chair and staff-member.

Chair of the Security Council - Paula Victoria Nartschik:
My name is Paula Victoria Nartschik. For now I am enrolled as a law student in the 8th semester, with study focus on European Law.
I see ViaMUN as the perfect introduction into the field of work and also as a new suspenseful challenge of learning how to negotiate with the whole diversity of political interests.
For me personally, a chair is always the most appreciated position of councils, as it is not part of my character to convince people of my own opinion, but to make the right decision. Adding that I work very solution-oriented and constructive, but empathic at the same time, so that I am looking forward to chair the United Nations Security Council dealing with the issue of recent events in Myanmar.

Chair of the Human Rights Council - Franziska Kühl:

My name is Franziska Kühl, I am honoured and thrilled to be a part of the ViaMUN secretariat of 2018!

ViaMUN has been my very first MUN conference and I know it will be the first one for many of you. That’s why I am determined to make this one an unforgettable experience for all of you!

When not attending a conference or indulging myself in Post-MUN-Depression I am studying law at the European University Viadrina with a focus (or soon-to-be-focus) on international public law. In my free time I like to cook with friends, drag myself to the gym and watch old movies.

Chair of the Human Rights Council - Tim Pohl:
My name is Tim Pohl and I am delighted to be this years chair of the Human Rights Committee of the official Viadrina Model United Nations conference.
At the moment I study within the field of International Business Administration as an undergraduate course. As international relations amid politics and economics play a vast role in my studies and non-academic work, I am looking forward to my second time chairing a MUN conference as well as guiding you successfully through the conference.
Please do not hesitate to contact me throughout the conference regarding any topics. With that being said, I wish all of you a satisfying and rewarding conference. Don‘t be afraid, participate!
